Warm/True Autumn: Colours To Avoid
The colour fan on the left as well as the two drapes in the background represent Warm/True Autumn colours. The paper is pure white print paper. The 12 (13) rectangles on the right as well as the silver bracelet represent colours that are not in harmony with the Warm/True Autumn colours, i.e. the rectangles have vastly different colour dimensions (hue, value and chroma) compared to the colour dimensions of Warm/True Autumn colours.
Warm/True Autumn colours are neutral to medium dark in value, neutral to medium-soft in chroma and absolute warm when it comes to hue (see the diagram below).
The worst colours for Warm/True Autumn colouring can be found in the colour palettes of Cool/True Winter, Cool/True Summer and Light Summer. In addition to that, Soft Summer, Deep/Dark Winter, Light Spring and Bright/Clear Winter colours are quite unflattering too.
What colours are in disharmony with Warm/True Autumn?
Hue: Colours that are cool (or neutral cool) are extremely unflattering to Warm/True Autumn complexion. Warm/True Autumn pigments require warm colours. Cool colours turn Warm/True Autumn faces grey to yellow-grey, take away the spark in their eyes and turn the natural colour of their lips slightly purple-grey (i.e. unhealthy). They also turn their teeth and eye-whites grey-yellow. Warm/True Autumn colours are not blue based.
Value: Colours that are light in value, i.e. on the other end of the spectrum of the value dimension of colour. Warm/True Autumn needs a certain level of depth and colours light in value erase Warm/True Autumn faces, create a balloon head effect as well as bubble fish effect on client’s face (see article). The facial features lack definition.
Chroma: Colours that are very bright do not harmonise with Warm/True Autumn. Warm/True Autumn colours are neutral to medium soft. Bright colours overpower Warm/True Autumns, undermine their presence and create a patchy skin structure.

Note: Computer and smart-phone monitors and cameras distort colours. Every monitor shows colours differently. If you see the colours in person, they might differ from the way they appears on your computer screen. On computer screens colours tend to appear cooler. Using a blue-light screen protector or a night-shift might make the colours appear warmer.
