Soft Autumn Mood Board

Soft Autumn Mood Board

I absolutely love fashion magazines. Ever since I was a little girl, I was drawn to the glossy magazines. I have decided to create (at least) one mood board for each of the 12 Colour Types using cut-outs from recent fashion, lifestyle and beauty magazines. I want to capture the essence of each colour type using the latest fashion and trends. I want to show how each and every Colour Type can be modern, trendy, fashionable and chic, simply “in vogue”. Also, I want to create something using my hands away from the computer screen. After months of creating secret Pinterest boards for my clients (12 colour types x 2 genders = 24 Colour Type Pinterest Boards = over 3600 pictures) I want to create a mood board I can physically touch.

The first mood board is dedicated to Soft Autumn. I love the Soft Autumn colour palette. I love them all. It was very easy to find the cut-outs for this colour type. There are currently plenty of options in the fashion and beauty industry that cater specifically to Soft Autumns. Everything in the picture is a Soft Autumn colour. The cut-outs, the rings, the two colour fans (examples of fans that my clients receive during their PCA session), the colour of the paper as well as the colour of the background drapes.

At the first glance, the mood board should give you the overall feel for the Soft Autumn colouring. Upon second and third viewing, you will be able to focus on the (hidden) details. The eye shadow palettes, lipstick colours, patterns, colour combinations, materials, hair colour, metals. Soft animal prints are wonderful for Soft Autumns. Matt-finish materials such as wool and (faux) leather are great as well.

Look at the dress to the right - do you see how the colours flow into each other from golden beige to warm salmon to deep burgundy? There are no harsh cuts, the colours flow into each other. This effect looks very sophisticated on Soft Autumns.

The hair colour between the coat and the dress is spot on for Soft Autumn - warm brown flows to medium brown to warm caramel gold. Soft Autumn’s natural hair colour often looks like that. Next to Soft Autumn colours, such hair colour looks exquisite, rich and slightly golden. Next to less suitable colour palette this hair colour comes across as mousy, matt and lifeless.
