Colours: Blue
After exploring the different shades of red, yellow, green, orange, pink, violet and grey, let’s have a look at perhaps the most popular colour in the world: blue. Every Colour Type has its own “version” of blue. Overall, the cool(er) Colour Types, i.e. Summers and Winters, are more rich in shades of blue than Springs and Autumns.
There are so many shades of blue out there, certainly more than I could cover in this article. Still, I tried to include a variety of shades and include all of the Colour Types.
Can you see what shades are warm and what shades are cool? (Hint: The warmer the blue, the more blue-green it looks.) Can you see what shades are muted and what shades are bright? What shade of blue suits YOU best?
The objective of this article is to increase readers’ sensibility to the 3 dimensions of colour (hue, value and chroma). The more you see the differences between the different shades of the same colour, the more selective you will become when choosing colours that flatter your complexion, your eyes, your lips and your hair colour. With each photograph, I will indicate the Colour Type (i.e. the code name for a specific combination of the 3 colour dimensions) the shade belongs to. The photographs are in no particular order.
